Bitcoin briefly surged above $9,000 today on at least one exchange, pulling the rest of the digital currency market along for the ride. The rally was a positive sign and marked a strong turnaround from the weekend’s pricing, when the legacy crypto sank to the $7,300 level.

The highest price seen was $9,046.43 on the HitBTC exchange at 12:42 pm today. HitBTC saw $85,421,100 of bitcoin change hands.
The lowest price seen was $8,281.99 on GDAX’s exchange at 1:30 pm yesterday. GDAX’s 24 hour volume was $181,781,000.
The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $8,479.07.
Volatility was lower than average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 39.9. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.
These statistics were consolidated from 9 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
