The Scottish First Minister has continued her demands for independence as she spoke at the opening of the SNP conference. Today, Ms Sturgeon faced a brutal grilling while appearing on The Andrew Marr Show.
The BBC host brutally challenged the First Minister on her promises to hold a second independence referendum should her party win the Scottish election in 2021.
BBC’s Marr also criticised the Scottish First Minister over her handling of coronavirus.
Now, Andrew Bowie, Tory MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, has lashed out at Ms Sturgeon claiming her party only cares about independence.
He tweeted: “Andrew Marr to Nicola Sturgeon – ‘You said closing the educational attainment gap was a moral challenge for Scotland and you wanted to be judged by that.
“‘On that judgement, you have failed.’
“Education is suffering under the SNP.
“But all they care about is independence.”
The Scottish public voted to remain part of the UK back in 2014 and then-First Minister Alex Salmond said the vote was a “once in a lifetime” referendum.
Ms Sturgeon succeeded Mr Salmond as SNP leader and Scottish First Minister after he stood down following the referendum results.
Ms Sturgeon’s latest calls for independence came during a round of interviews amid the SNP conference.
The First Minister of Scotland said: “I think the referendum should, for a whole variety of reasons, be in the earlier part of the next parliament.
“I intend to say more about this before the election in our manifesto, but we are still in a global pandemic that I feel a bit more hopeful about seeing the end of than I did even just a couple of months ago.”

Support for Scottish independence has increased over recent months with 14 polls showing high levels of support for a second referendum.
The most recent YouGov polling conducted earlier this month put the SNP on 56 percent for the constituency vote and 47 percent for the regional list.
While the Scottish Conservatives stood at 19 percent and 20 percent respectively, while Scottish Labour were on 15 percent and 13 percent.
Earlier today, SNP leader in Westminster Ian Blackford claimed the UK Government is panicking over support for independence.
He said: “That diverging tale of two parliaments has led to an inevitable conclusion – poll after poll shows that a settled majority now believes that all decisions and all powers should now be trusted to the people of Scotland.
“That is why the Tories are in a panic, they are unwilling to accept the truth that a majority of Scotland’s people now want an independent future.
“Instead of listening to the will of the Scottish people, the Tories are attempting to deny democracy and destroy devolution.”
