Hotel owner throws Boris Johnson a £12,000 Tory leadership victory party

The owner of a luxury Mayfair hotel threw a £12,000 party for Boris Johnson to celebrate his victory in the Tory leadership contest.

Brown’s Hotel, owned by Sir Rocco Forte, paid for the bash after Johnson was named leader of the Conservative Party with a landslide victory over Jeremy Hunt .

Johnson and guests reportedly enjoyed salmon mousse and cocktail sausages, while a magician provided the entertainment at the private reception.

The costly bash was revealed in the latest update of the register of MPs interests – which also appeared to confirm Mr Johnson had bought a home with partner Carrie Symonds.

The Register notes that as of July 19, Mr Johnson owns a 50% share of a residential property in London.

The pair reportedly bought a £1.3 million home in Camberwell last month.

The sales brochure described their new home as a "beautiful period residence offering an abundance of character".

Describing it as "a superb residence", the sales brochure says: "The property is in a fantastic location for city life while continuing to be located in calm, green spaces within a close-knit community."
