A man carved a giant penis into his field that can be seen from space in a bizarre protest against the Government.

Jamie Rix said his creation started as a crop circle around 18 months ago in the overgrown soybean field on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

His friend then dared him to turn it into “a giant Johnson” and Jamie thought “why not” – with the finished product measuring 243m.

Jamie told CBC he bought the land in 2009 and it has since become a family jewel.

It is zoned as residential, but he said he's not sure he has the "tolerance" to go through the red tape of developing it.

He said the image is partly a statement of protest against the federal government, which is why he pointed it west towards capital Ottawa.

Jamie told the channel: "The government doesn't seem to have much of a plan beyond four years and the next election.

"That's my feeling anyway. They'll say or do anything to get re-elected."

Jamie said there hasn't been much reaction, because people can't see it from the ground even though it is surrounded by a walking trail.

"People who do see it, or I show a picture to, they just think it's great, they laugh," he said.

"I think if you're offended by anything that's just a choice."

He kept the artwork from his wife until about a year after he did it.

Jamie added: "She hasn't heard or seen or thought much about it. I don't think she'd like to be associated with it."

Now that the field has been exposed, he might turn it into something more useful.

Jamie continued: "Now that it's on Google Maps, I could probably trim it to look more like a runway. Maybe someone will land there in an emergency."
