How am I supposed to eat if there&#8217;s no grocery delivery for a week, Sainsbury&#8217;s?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Janiede Lang posted a screenshot of nine substitute items on her order with Sainsbury&#8217;s, tweeting: &#8216;Sainsbury&#8217;s. This is unacceptable, especially in these difficult times. Never had so many subs from other supermarkets.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>And Judith Brammer from Cleethorpes said: &#8216;Totally fed up with the Sainsbury&#8217;s app. Delivery now arriving without amendments and I&#8217;m locked out of my account. Reset password link arrives three hours later and says it&#8217;s expired. Great.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Problems were also reported on the Tesco app, with Nicola Barrett saying: &#8216;Tesco. Despite increasing our capacity by 40 per cent this year, slots are being snapped up quickly. We are still updating our website on a daily basis to show our availability.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>In another response to someone complaining about the queue, it said: &#8216;We&#8217;re sorry for any issues you may have experienced whilst using our service. Our queuing system is there to ensure a smooth and seamless experience whilst managing demand.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>A Sainsbury&#8217;s spokesman said it was investigating the issue with its app and website.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/01\/05\/10\/37617816-9113907-image-a-11_1609842169351.jpg\" height=\"702\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/01\/05\/10\/37617826-9113907-image-a-12_1609842169359.jpg\" height=\"1040\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/01\/05\/09\/37617822-9113907-image-a-11_1609838912375.jpg\" height=\"262\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/01\/05\/09\/37617808-9113907-image-a-4_1609838887992.jpg\" height=\"255\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Tesco said there had been no reports from its technical team of any problems on its website, and that it had increased the number of slots for online delivery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, new data on supermarkets from Kantar revealed the record December helped sales jump 11.4 per cent to \u00a332.7billion over the 12 weeks to December 27.<\/p>\n<p>Supermarket trading was boosted by the \u00a34billion that would normally have been spent on food and drink outside the home over the Christmas season.<\/p>\n<p>The report showed online grocery sales accounted for 12.6 per cent of total spend in December, compared with 7.4 per cent in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Ocado ended the year as the country&#8217;s fastest growing retailer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/01\/05\/09\/37617820-9113907-image-a-8_1609838903624.jpg\" height=\"259\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/01\/05\/10\/37617818-9113907-image-a-13_1609842169388.jpg\" height=\"899\" width=\"633\"><\/p>\n<p>Fraser McKevitt, head of retail and consumer insight at Kantar, said: &#8216;December is always an incredibly busy time for supermarkets, but take-home grocery shopping is usually supplemented by celebrations in restaurants, pubs and bars &#8211; with \u00a34 billion spent on food and drink, excluding alcohol, out of the home during the normal festive month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;This year, almost all those meals were eaten at home and retailers stepped up monumentally to meet the surge in demand.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He added that the port disruption ahead of the Brexit deal deadline meant shoppers brought forward their Christmas shopping, with Monday December 21 the busiest shopping day of the year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/01\/05\/09\/37616986-9113907-image-m-2_1609837462158.jpg\" height=\"323\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>New data on supermarkets from Kantar this morning revealed the record December helped sales jump 11.4 per cent. The latest grocery market share is displayed in the graphic above<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Fifteen million households &#8211; more than half the entire population &#8211; visited a grocer at some point that day and spent a collective \u00a3819 million,&#8217; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;This is a real step change from recent years when consumers have typically completed their &#8216;big shop&#8217; closer to Christmas Day.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Morrisons was the best performer of Britain&#8217;s big four grocers with sales up 13.1 per cent year-on-year over the 12 weeks. Its market share moved up by 0.1 percentage points to 10.4 per cent, its highest level since June 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Market leader Tesco saw sales growth of 11.1 per cent, followed by number two Sainsbury&#8217;s with growth of 10.7 per cent.
