Right-wing talk show host\u00a0Glenn Beck drew condemnation after he compared social media companies\u2019 crackdown on President Donald Trump\u00a0to the ghettoization of Jews in Nazi Germany.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can\u2019t have freedom of speech if you can\u2019t \u2026\u00a0express yourself in a meaningful place,\u201d Beck said in an interview Tuesday on Tucker Carlson\u2019s widely watched Fox News show, claiming censorship was \u201cabsolutely un-American\u201d whether carried out by people on the left or the right.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is like the Germans with the Jews behind the wall.\u00a0They would put them in the ghetto.\u00a0Well, this is the digital ghetto.\u201d Beck continued. \u201cYou can talk all you want. Jews, you do whatever you want behind the wall.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, that\u2019s not meaningful. And that\u2019s where we are,\u201d Beck said. \u201cThat\u2019s where millions of Americans will be.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beck, the founder of right-wing digital media company The Blaze,\u00a0claimed it was \u201cnot to compare it to the Germans,\u201d despite doing exactly that. \u201cIt is not to do anything but warn if you don\u2019t stand up for free speech, you will be the one that loses it as well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The social media giants, along with Apple, Amazon and Google, also have taken steps to distance themselves from right wing extremists.<\/p>\n Supporters of the president who promote conspiracy theories or encourage violence have been booted from social media sites. Some responded by migrating to the right-wing social network Parler, which Amazon has now stopped hosting due to its incendiary content.<\/p>\n The American Jewish Committee condemned Beck\u2019s comments.<\/p>\n \u201cThe constant weaponization of history\u2019s darkest chapter is deeply offensive and an affront to the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust,\u201d the organization tweeted, demanding Beck apologize.\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s no comparison between big tech companies enforcing their community standards and the Holocaust.
