Police have launched an investigation after human remains were found on a beach close to a historical burial site at an exclusive seaside resort.<\/p>\n
The bones were found by a stunned walker at West Wittering in West Sussex on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He immediately reported the body to Sussex Police, who later confirmed the remains are human.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A spokesperson added the skeleton was found close to ‘an area where historical burial sites are located,’ though it is unclear how it was unearthed.<\/p>\n
The remains were found in the coastal village of West Wittering, where celebrities such as Only Fools and Horses star\u00a0Nicholas Lyndhurst own impressive beachside properties.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pathologists will now examine the skeleton in a bid to discover the age of the bones.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Sussex Police said: ‘Specialist forensic teams recovered the bones and have confirmed the remains are human.<\/p>\n
‘The discovery is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries to identify the bones are ongoing.’<\/p>\n
It was added that the skeleton was found close to ‘an area where historical burial sites are located’.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
