{"id":115218,"date":"2021-03-03T02:19:55","date_gmt":"2021-03-03T02:19:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/?p=115218"},"modified":"2021-03-03T02:19:55","modified_gmt":"2021-03-03T02:19:55","slug":"how-hershey-became-americas-iconic-chocolate-brand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/business\/how-hershey-became-americas-iconic-chocolate-brand\/","title":{"rendered":"How Hershey became America&#39;s iconic chocolate brand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><cite> (CNN Business)<\/cite>Peanut butter purists called and Reese&#8217;s answered. <\/p>\n<p>Reese&#8217;s latest iteration of its wildly popular peanut butter cup will be all peanut butter, no chocolate,  <span>Hershey<\/span> <span>(<span>HSY<\/span>)<\/span> announced on Monday.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Reese&amp;#39;s is putting pretzels in peanut butter cup\" class=\"media__image\" src=\"\/\/cdn.cnn.com\/cnnnext\/dam\/assets\/200922123329-reeses-pretzel-cup-large-169.jpg\"><br \/>\nThe Reese&#8217;s Ultimate Peanut Butter Lovers Cup is made entirely<strong> <\/strong>of peanut butter, both inside and in the peanut butter candy-flavored outer shell.<\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p>This is the first time in the company&#8217;s 90-year-history that its peanut butter cups have taken<strong> <\/strong>chocolate completely out of the equation. Versions of the Peanut Butter Lovers Cup came out in 2019 and 2020, but those<strong> <\/strong>still contained some chocolate.<br \/>\n&#8220;While launching a Reese&#8217;s Cup with absolutely no chocolate might come as a shock, we&#8217;re giving the truest peanut butter fans something to go wild about,&#8221; Margo McIlvaine, Reese&#8217;s brand manager, said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>Hershey, like other confectioners, relies on impulse purchases to drive sales. In the last year, the candy company has released peanut butter cups filled with pretzels and a peanut butter and chocolate Snack Cake it billed as a &#8220;mid-morning snack.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Reese&amp;#39;s new chocolate-free, peanut butter cups.\" class=\"media__image\" src=\"\/\/cdn.cnn.com\/cnnnext\/dam\/assets\/210302155052-reeses-peanut-butter-cup-no-chocolate-large-169.jpg\"><br \/>\nA 2019 Monmouth University survey found that Reese&#8217;s Peanut Butter Cups are America&#8217;s most popular Halloween candy, with over a third of respondents choosing it as their favorite.<\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p>Reese&#8217;s said it launched the chocolate-free version of the candy to celebrate National Peanut Butter Day, which was March 1.
