<\/p>\nOn Friday (April 2), the Polkadot ($DOT) team announced that Chainlink had made their price feeds available as a Substrate oracle pallet. Within less than 24 hours, Polkadot\u2019s DOT token had broken through the $46 level, setting a new all-time high.<\/p>\n
According to Polkadot\u2019s blog post, which was published yesterday (April 2), until now, there was no \u201creliable and flexible oracle solution for accessing secure price reference data across any parachain.\u201d<\/p>\n
It went on to say that following \u201csignificant development work\u201d, Chainlink has made \u201ctheir extensive collection of on-chain Price Feeds available as a Substrate oracle pallet\u201d, which enables \u201csmart contract applications across the Polkadot ecosystem to access accurate, up-to-date and tamper-proof price reference data for powering new products and markets.\u201d Furthermore, Chainlink\u2019s price feeds \u201ccan also be accessed by other pallets integrated into a particular parachain, opening up powerful new functionality for parachain teams.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chainlink\u2019s integration as a Substrate oracle pallet provides \u201cteams in the Polkadot ecosystem\u2014specifically teams building parachains based on the Substrate framework\u201d with \u201ca straightforward approach for accessing high-quality external market data.\u201d This integration \u201csupports the many smart contract applications and parachain pallets requesting access to Chainlink Price Feeds across Polkadot\u2019s environment.\u201d<\/p>\n
As you can see in the five-day DOT-USD price chart by TradingView, shortly after this news was announced on Twitter (which was at 15:05 UTC on April 2), on crypto exchange Bitstamp, the price of the DOT token, which was around $38.83 just before the announcement, started surging, and by 06:40 UTC on April 3, it had reached $46.70 \u2014 currently today\u2019s intraday high \u2014 thereby setting a new all-time high.<\/p>\n

According to data by CryptoCompare, currently (as of 09:44 UTC on April 3), Polkadot\u2019s DOT token is trading around $45.30, up 18.90% in the past 24-hour period.<\/p>\n

This news has also helped the price of Chainlink\u2019s LINK token, which is currently (as of 09:51 UTC on April 3) trading around $32.37, to go up 6.34% in the past 24-hour period.<\/p>\n
