<\/p>\nPrince William\u2019s blistering attack on the BBC following the Princess Diana Panorama report featured two \u201ctelling\u201d words that showed him \u201cexpunging\u201d Prince Harry, a royal commentator has claimed.<\/p>\n
Lord Dyson\u2019s report into the Panorama interview revealed that journalist Martin Bashir breached BBC rules by mocking up fake bank statements to gain access to the princess.<\/p>\n
It also found the investigation at the time by the news agency into the journalist's methods was \u201cwoefully ineffective\u201d.<\/p>\n
Yesterday evening (May 20), both of Diana\u2019s sons released statements expressing horror at the revelations.<\/p>\n
Harry said his mother \u201clost her life\u201d as a result of the unethical practices shown by Bashir and the BBC while William said the interview was a \u201cmajor contribution to making my parents\u2019 relationship worse\u201d in a video message.<\/p>\n

But, according to news.com.au\u2019s royal commentator Daniela Elser, there was a key difference in both brothers\u2019 speeches that could point to how different their paths now are.<\/p>\n
She pointed out how the heir to the throne said \u201cmy\u201d and \u201cI\u201d throughout his video, while Harry \u201ccrucially deployed \u2018our mother\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose two words from William \u2013 \u201cI\u201d and \u201cmy\u201d \u2013 are so telling,\u201d Daniela wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot once in his piece-to-camera does William mention Harry, even in the most oblique terms. There is no equivocation here: The Duke of Cambridge has just effectively excised his younger, wayward sibling from the narrative.<\/p>\n
\u201cGiven the consideration and time that goes into every single detail, this very conscious expunging of Harry was no oversight.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bashir has since apologised for mocking up the fake bank statements, saying it was a \u201cstupid thing to do\u201d.<\/p>\n

But he claimed the bank statements \u201chad no bearing whatsoever on the personal choice by Princess Diana to take part in the interview\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvidence handed to the inquiry in her own handwriting (and published alongside the report today) unequivocally confirms this, and other compelling evidence presented to Lord Dyson reinforces it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn fact, despite his other findings, Lord Dyson himself in any event accepts that the Princess would probably have agreed to be interviewed without what he describes as my \u2018intervention\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is saddening that this single issue has been allowed to overshadow the Princess\u2019 brave decision to tell her story, to courageously talk through the difficulties she faced, and, to help address the silence and stigma that surrounded mental health issues all those years ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe led the way in addressing so many of these issues and that\u2019s why I will always remain immensely proud of that interview.\u201d<\/p>\n
