A 1970s-mad dad has spent thousands of pounds to transform his home into a shrine dedicated to the one-of-a-kind era.

Martin Aylett, 51, spends hours poring through items at vintage fairs to search for 70s treasures for his two-bedroom semi-detached house in Swadlincote, Derbyshire.

Up to now, the divorced dad-of-two has laid bold orange and brown kitchen tiles to match his 1974 Russell Hobbs toaster and orange kitchen units.

Martin even bought original 70s Fairy liquid bottles, Persil washing powder and Woolworths dish cloths to clean his custard-yellow crockery.

In his living room is a brown and orange patterned Axminster carpet, a 1960s three-piece leatherette suite and a Rowe AMI juke box.

He also drives an iconic 1972 VW Campervan which he parks outside his £140,000 home.

He said: "It all started about four years ago when I bought the property and had a blank canvas to decorate, carpet and get the house into ship shape.

"I thought that would be ideal opportunity to give it that 70s vibe. I've always been interested in the 70s.
