REUTERS\/Brian Snyder<\/figcaption><p>WASHINGTON (Reuters) &#8211; President Joe Biden intends to nominate a long-time development official for a U.S. Treasury position on international markets, a White House official told Reuters on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Alexia Latortue, who is deputy chief executive officer of the Millennium Challenge Corp, an independent U.S. foreign assistance agency, is set to be nominated as assistant secretary for International Markets and Investment Policy, which works on international financial services issues, trade and investment policy, and U.S. relations with multilateral development banks.<\/p>\n<p>Latortue did not respond to a request for comment Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Latortue served as a U.S. Treasury official in the Obama administration and also spent 10 years with the World Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The Treasury Department\u2019s under secretary for International Affairs position, which oversees international markets, is currently vacant.<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg News reported in July that Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen\u2019s choice for the international under secretary job withdrew after the White House told her she would not be nominated.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/usa-biden-treasury\/biden-to-nominate-development-official-to-u-s-treasury-post-official-idUSL1N2PD217\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FILE PHOTO: A sign marks the U.S<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":134706,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[23054],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
