I pray for answers every day. I am really thrown by what is happening now.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;They&#8217;ve made me nervous. What are they searching for? The bag, for the phone? For her? I&#8217;m worried about my daughter but it&#8217;s always been my instinct that she is still alive. I can&#8217;t give up hope. That&#8217;s what keeps me going.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>She said the constant stress she has lived with for 12 years since Claudia&#8217;s disappearance has left her with alopecia and having to wear wigs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Lawrence said &#8216;something must have triggered&#8217; the latest searches off but she has little faith in the police&#8217;s investigative work.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/08\/27\/09\/47164397-9932205-image-a-6_1630053220544.jpg\" height=\"826\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Claudia Lawrence failed to arrive for work at the University of York on March 18, 2009<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/08\/27\/13\/47170033-9932205-image-a-89_1630066106131.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Police continued their search today in the woodland and the lake in Sand Hutton<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/08\/27\/09\/47121487-9932205-image-a-7_1630053240262.jpg\" height=\"553\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>She said she feared double murder Christopher Halliwell could be connected to the case.<\/p>\n<p>Keen fisherman and cabbie Halliwell, 57, is behind bars for life for murdering Sian O&#8217;Callaghan, 22, and Becky Godden, 20, after snatching them from nightclubs.<\/p>\n<p>But many connected to his case believe he has further victims, including Ms Godden&#8217;s mother who has previously said she knew of a witness who saw Halliwell talking to Claudia back in 2019 before she disappeared.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Fulcher \u2014 the detective superintendent who caught the killer \u2014 has also gone on record to say there were &#8216;clear indications&#8217; he had other victims, although did not go as far as name them.<\/p>\n<p>The date of the year Claudia disappeared is also the same date years later Halliwell abducted and killed Sian.<\/p>\n<p>It is thought the day is significant because he was dumped on that same day by an ex over a decade ago.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/08\/27\/09\/47164393-9932205-image-m-13_1630053322886.jpg\" height=\"449\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The police searches started earlier this week with no announcements before officers arrived<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/08\/28\/09\/47121555-9935321-Halliwell_57_is_behind_bars_for_life_for_murdering_Sian_O_Callag-a-38_1630139976530.jpg\" height=\"389\" width=\"306\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/08\/28\/09\/47121545-9935321-Claudia_was_reported_missing_after_failing_to_arrive_for_work_at-m-37_1630139963127.jpg\" height=\"389\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Halliwell, 57, is behind bars for life for murdering Sian O&#8217;Callaghan, 22, and Becky Godden, 20, in two brutal attacks<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Lawrence said: &#8216;Something always bothered me about Halliwell and leaves me feeling very uneasy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The police may not have proved he had anything to do with my daughter&#8217;s disappearance, but they haven&#8217;t disproved it either,&#8217; she added to the Mirror.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The operation in and around the gravel pits near the village of Sand Hutton began on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Detective Superintendent Wayne Fox said: &#8216;I thank the public for the positive responses and new information received in support of the current phase of the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Our focus is on finding Claudia and bringing those responsible for her disappearance and suspected murder to justice.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/08\/28\/09\/47121543-9935321-Police_officers_are_back_again_at_gravel_pits_in_land_at_Sand_Hu-a-39_1630140004531.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Police officers are back again at gravel pits in land at Sand Hutton to the east of York used by fisherman over the years<\/p>\n<p>Mr Fox has not disclosed what information has prompted the search activity 12 years after Ms Lawrence went missing.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Mrs said the new searches have left her in &#8216;utter shock&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>She told reporters she was &#8216;very, very churned up&#8217; about the latest developments in the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Police believe Ms Lawrence \u2013 who lived in the Heworth area of York and worked at York University \u2013 was murdered, although no body has ever been found.<\/p>\n<p>She was last seen on March 18 2009.
