<\/p>\nA teenager is reportedly fighting for his life after falling around nine metres (29ft) from the balcony of an apartment on the Gold Coast in Australia.<\/p>\n
The 16-year-old boy fell backwards off the railing he was sitting on at a property on Orchid Avenue on Thursday.<\/p>\n
After the boy\u2019s fall, his friends thought it best to move the boy back to the apartment before an ambulance was called 45 minutes later.<\/p>\n
It was later revealed the actual call was made by a neighbour.<\/p>\n
Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the apartment just before 12.45am.<\/p>\n
Speaking to broadcaster 7NEWS, Queensland Ambulance Service officer Justin Payne said: "Unfortunately, what we determined when we arrived on the scene was that the patient had been moved by his friends back upstairs into the apartment block."<\/p>\n

Payne also revealed a third-party had made the call to the ambulance service.<\/p>\n
As reported by the Daily Mail, the boy\u2019s friends told paramedics they thought he was not severely unwell, and he was still conscious and talking following the fall.<\/p>\n
According to 7NEWS, a female neighbour where the boy and his friends were staying called paramedics after hearing them outside her property and said they were "drunk and underage".<\/p>\n
She said: "Once he fell, they dragged him up two flights of stairs and were trying to put him back to bed, hoping they wouldn\u2019t get kicked out.<\/p>\n
"I asked to see an adult. They said there are no adults here."<\/p>\n

Payne added that had it not been for intervention then the boy\u2019s situation could have been "quite dire".<\/p>\n
"The patient had some internal injuries, as determined by the high acuity unit who performed an ultrasound,\u201d said the paramedic.<\/p>\n
Payne continued: \u201cUnfortunately, from a paramedic\u2019s view, the best course of action in that scenario would have been to leave the patient on scene and call us immediately.<\/p>\n
