Forbes estimated that, between his partnership units and common stock, nearly $700 million of Neumann&#8217;s fortune is tied up in WeWork<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/10\/21\/19\/49464483-10115945-WeWork_is_now_a_publicly_traded_company_after_rebounding_from_a_-a-28_1634839606999.jpg\" height=\"393\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>WeWork is now a publicly traded company after rebounding from a spectacular collapse during its first attempt to do so two years ago<\/p>\n<p>The company also pulled in $658 million in revenue during third quarter, 2021, executives revealed during a virtual investor day earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday morning, Neumann hosted a party at New York City&#8217;s Standard Hotel as WeWork shares began trading at the New York Stock Exchange, inviting more than 100 of his former and earliest employees to the booze-soaked bonanza.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;m feeling amazing&#8217; Neumann told a New York Post reporter outside the swanky hotel, as he gathered a crowd of attendees and press at a bar situated at the swanky hotel in New York&#8217;s Meatpacking District, as WeWork shares soared by as much as 11 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Guests enjoyed champagne as early as 9 a.m. while they awaited the opening bell and first trade of WeWork stock &#8211; with mimosas and Bloody Marys also being served.<\/p>\n<p>Neumann, dressed in a black T-shirt that read, &#8216;Student For Life,&#8217; as well as his fellow WeWork cofounder, Miguel McKelvey, addressed the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s such a special day,&#8217; Neumann told the crowd, adding that he stopped by Wall Street, where &#8216;there was a really big sign&#8217; notifying traders of WeWork&#8217;s break into the public market, referencing a massive WeWork flag hoisted Thursday on the face of the New York Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;A brand without a past does not have a future,&#8217; he said, hugging McKelvey multiple times throughout the speech.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his stake in the company, Neumann was able to hold onto nearly 20 million WeWork Partnerships Profits Interest Units.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They will be convertible into shares of the newly public company&#8217;s common stock at no cost after the merger.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Based on the SPAC&#8217;s $10 per share price, those units are worth approximately $200 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The rest of Neumann&#8217;s net worth comes from cash raked in from selling WeWork shares over the years and his lucrative separation agreement, after the startup scrapped previous plans for an initial public offering in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Company executives said at the time that they decided to &#8216;postpone our IPO to focus on our core business, the fundamentals of which remain strong.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>But they signaled they still intended to take the company public, saying, &#8216;We have every intention to operate WeWork as a public company and look forward to revisiting the public equity markets in the future.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Neumann stepped down after his unusual personal conduct \u2013 and use of company assets \u2013 came under fire.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly before quitting, he was alleged to have smoked marijuana with friends on a private flight from New York to Israel, The Wall Street Journal reported.<\/p>\n<p>The unconventional executive used WeWork&#8217;s corporate jet as his office in the sky to meet with employees as he traveled for work.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2021\/10\/21\/15\/43245543-10115945-Employees_have_spoken_out_about_the_cult_like_environment_at_WeW-a-14_1634827547168.jpg\" height=\"421\" width=\"632\"><\/p>\n<p>Employees have spoken out about the &#8216;cult-like&#8217; environment while working at WeWork, as well as the allegedly unprofessional behavior of its so-called &#8216;partyer in chief.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At its peak, WeWork had coworking spaces in more than 110 cities in 29 countries with a valuation of $47billion, and Neumann was thought to be the next Steve Jobs &#8211; a Silicon Valley innovator who would change the world.<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0Neumann&#8217;s office suites were absurd even by the standards of Silicon Valley bosses.
