{"id":144778,"date":"2021-11-16T03:27:53","date_gmt":"2021-11-16T03:27:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/?p=144778"},"modified":"2021-11-16T03:27:53","modified_gmt":"2021-11-16T03:27:53","slug":"google-searches-for-nfts-spike-to-record-highs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/crypto\/google-searches-for-nfts-spike-to-record-highs\/","title":{"rendered":"Google searches for NFTs spike to record highs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google\u2019s keyword search data shows interest in nonfungible tokens (NFTs) has surged to record levels, with traffic beating out search terms pertinent to many crypto assets ranked among the top ten. <\/p>\n<p>According to Google Trends, interest in NFTs saw a dramatic spike at the start of the year as Dapper Labs\u2019 <em>NBA Top Shot<\/em> and vintage Ethereum-based NFTs saw frenzied speculation.<\/p>\n<p>While the bubble initially appeared short-lived \u2014 with search volume drying up by roughly 75% as of the end of June, interest began to bounce back in July before breaking into new highs at the end of October.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-11\/9ff127de-d91a-42cf-afc0-4bf42b22eeb8.png\"><\/p>\n<p>Since then, Google search traffic for NFT-related keywords has continued to surge, doubling over the past three months.<\/p>\n<p>The spike in interest has seen \u201cNFT\u201d overtake many of keywords that have long-dominated crypto-related search traffic, including \u201cDeFi,\u201d \u201cEthereum,\u201d and even \u201cblockchain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-11\/b6ff47a4-a7b8-481b-a92a-0256d74c00c1.png\"><\/p>\n<p>While Dogecoin firmly captured the public\u2019s imagination during the second quarter \u2014 with search volume for \u201cDogecoin\u201d rising to rival \u201cBitcoin\u201d in early May, dog-token fever quickly subsided in the third quarter. As such, the Google Trends data suggests the momentum behind the canine-coin rally was immediately channelled into hype for NFTs.<\/p>\n<h3>NFT-mania sweeps Asia <\/h3>\n<p>According to Google Trends, NFT search traffic is currently dominated by Asian nations, with China, Uganda, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines topping the keyword\u2019s search rankings. <\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s search volume for \u2018NFT\u2019 peaked between Sep 5 to 11 this year.
