JIMMY Hoffa is a former trade unionist who was also involved in organized crime.<\/p>\n
In November 2021, a confession was made about the disappearance of Hoffa's body.<\/p>\n

James "Jimmy" Hoffa was president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from 1957 until 1971.<\/p>\n
From an early age, Hoffa was a union activist and leader who played a big role in the growth and development of the union across the United States.<\/p>\n
During it's peak while Hoffa was leader, the labor union had 2.3million members.<\/p>\n
Hoffa married Josephine Poszywak, an 18-year-old Detroit laundry worker in 1936.They had two children together: a son, James P Hoffa, and a daughter, Barbara Ann Crancer.<\/p>\n
He was born in February 1913 in Brazil, Indiana, and died July 1982 in Detroit, Michigan.<\/p>\n
He became involved in organized crime from the early years of his work with Teamsters.<\/p>\n
He was convicted of\u00a0jury tampering, attempted\u00a0bribery,\u00a0conspiracy, and\u00a0mail\u00a0and\u00a0wire fraud\u00a0in 1964 in two separate trials, and sentenced to 13 years in prison in 1967.<\/p>\n

In mid-1971, he resigned as president of the union as a part of a commutation agreement with former US president Richard Nixon.<\/p>\n
He tried to unsuccessfully overturn new IBT order after he was released from prison, and was barred from union activities in 1980.<\/p>\n
Hoffa disappeared on July 30, 1975 and was declared legally dead in 1982.<\/p>\n
At the time, he was travelling to Michigan to meet New Jersey Mafia boss Anthony Provenzano, although their relationship had soured since Hoffa had been released from prison.<\/p>\n
He was 62-years-old the year he went missing.<\/p>\n
He is believed to have been murdered by the mafia, although those reports have never been confirmed.<\/p>\n
There have been several failed searches for Hoffa's body over the years.<\/p>\n
In November 2021, it was reported that investigators received a tip that a former worker on a landfill site in Jersey City had said that his father told him he had buried Hoffa's body.<\/p>\n
According to the New York Times, landfill worker Frank Cappola, who died in March 2020,\u00a0told a friend that his father had confessed to being hired by a group of men to bury Hoffa's body in an underground steel drum.<\/p>\n
FBI agents with search warrants arrived at a former landfill site in October to conduct a survey.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the FBI told the NYT that data was currently being analyzed.<\/p>\n
