{"id":148699,"date":"2022-01-01T19:07:11","date_gmt":"2022-01-01T19:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/?p=148699"},"modified":"2022-01-01T19:07:11","modified_gmt":"2022-01-01T19:07:11","slug":"coinbases-chief-product-officer-offers-10-crypto-space-predictions-for-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/altcoins\/coinbases-chief-product-officer-offers-10-crypto-space-predictions-for-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Coinbase\u2019s Chief Product Officer Offers 10 Crypto Space Predictions for 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday (December 30), Surojit Chatterjee, Chief Product Officer at Coinbase, offered \u201c10 predictions for Web3 and the cryptoeconomy for 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chatterjee\u2019s blog post contained the following predictions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>\u201cEth scalability will improve, but newer L1 chains will see substantial growth\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cThere will be significant usability improvements in L1-L2 bridges\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cZero knowledge proof technology will get increased traction\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cRegulated Defi and emergence of on-chain KYC attestation\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cInstitutions will play a much bigger role in Defi participation\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cDefi insurance will emerge\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cNFT Based Communities will give material competition to Web 2.0 social networks\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cBrands will start actively participating in the metaverse and NFTs\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cWeb2 companies will wake up and will try to get into Web3\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cTime for DAO 2.0\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to a report by Protocol published on 23 August 2021, Chatterjee \u201cbought his first bitcoin shortly after the Indian government\u2019s stunning announcement in 2016 that most of the country\u2019s currency would soon be worthless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chatterjee, who was at the time head of product at Indian online shopping giant Flipkart, told Protocol he got \u201creally worried\u201d after his father told him that he didn\u2019t know what to do.<\/p>\n<p>This was when Chatterjee realized that it was important to own so BTC and so he bought his first bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Then, in 2017, went back to Google to work on mobile search ads , and in February 2020, he joined the crypto space by starting work at Coinbase as its chief product officer.<\/p>\n<p>During his interview with Protocol, Chatterjee was asked what Coinbase could do to make Bitcoin a much faster payments system.<\/p>\n<p>Chatterjee replied:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Bitcoin is slow. But it\u2019s like the early internet was very slow, not meant for ecommerce. Now we cannot imagine commerce without the internet. I think the same thing will happen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>All these L2 protocols are coming in. We are already supporting Polygon and Optimism. We are building our teams to help accelerate the whole ecosystem. Like I said, this just helps the whole industry, not just us.
