collapse in 2015 has now died.<\/p>\n<p>Aoife Beary, 27, from Blackrock, south Dublin, survived the accident which claimed the lives of six of her friends after a balcony on an apartment block in California collapsed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2022\/01\/Berkeley-Balcony-CollapseJPEG-42f02jpg-JS258266286.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2022\/01\/NINTCHDBPICT000173864051.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2022\/01\/NINTCHDBPICT000174092130.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Ms Beary, along with six other students, suffered life-changing injuries following the tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>A group of students, most of whom were in the US on a J-1 summer working visa, were celebrating Ms Beary\u2019s 21st birthday at a party held in the Library Gardens apartment block on June 16, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Beary suffered a serious brain injury in the fall and later underwent open heart surgery.<\/p>\n<p>She suffered numerous injuries, including broken bones and organ Beary had been studying at Oxford Brookes University in England.<\/p>\n<p>She died in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin Saturday night, having suffered a stroke on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Lorc\u00e1n Miller,\u00a0Eimear Walsh,\u00a0Niccolai Schuster,\u00a0Eoghan Culligan, and cousins\u00a0Olivia Burke\u00a0and\u00a0Ashley Donohoe all died in the tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>In the years following the tragedy, Ms Beary had campaigned to force building companies to release public safety records and report any work-related crimes or settlements to California\u2019s building regulator.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016 she testified before the California state legislature in a hearing on legislation to force contractors to be more transparent about past legal claims against them.<\/p>\n<p>The balcony Ms Beary and her friends were on was constructed by a company with a history of legal claims against it, which were not disclose to the state\u2019s licensing board which regulates the industry.<\/p>\n<p>At the in August 2016, Ms Beary told US politicians: \u201cSome of my injuries will be with me for the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She told the hearing that she had lost much of her independence following the accident and her career goals had been stopped, the Irish Times reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy life has been changed forever,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\"
