On the eve of the anniversary of the January 6, 2020 riots, former US President Jimmy Carter wrote a thought-provoking op-ed for the New York Times titled I Fear for Our Democracy.<\/p>\n

In the opinion piece, Jimmy Carter opined that democracy within the US was being threatened when he wrote: "Our great nation now teeters on the brink of a widening abyss."<\/p>\n

He went on to state: "Without immediate action, we are at genuine risk of civil conflict and losing our precious democracy. Americans must set aside differences and work together before it is too late."<\/p>\n
