A column of tanks was reported to be moving into Luhansk and Donetsk on Monday evening as Ukrainians were warned soldiers will be next to appear, Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK Vadym Prystaiko said. Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to recognise the two Russian-backed regions in east Ukraine – Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic – as independent states. He has ordered troops into the two regions to “maintain peace” – crossing the red line set by the West by deploying Russian forces on Ukrainian territory.<\/p>\n
Speaking to LBC, Mr Prystaiko said: “We understand that he made his move.<\/p>\n
“It’s a very strong move and we have to find out how to act right now.<\/p>\n
“For people on the ground, it means that they will see Russian soldiers on their streets very soon.<\/p>\n
“This time they will come on request of their, just recognised by Russia, leaders who signed the agreement with President Putin.”<\/p>\n

Britons leaving Ukraine after Russia sent troops into the east of the country are being given extra support, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has announced.<\/p>\n
Ms Truss urged British nationals to leave the country immediately by “commercial routes”.<\/p>\n
She tweeted: “The safety and security of British nationals in Ukraine is our top priority.<\/p>\n
“All Brits should leave now via commercial routes while they are still available.<\/p>\n
“We are bolstering our teams in the region to support British people as they leave and once they have crossed the border.”<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said “rapid deployment teams” are being sent to Poland, Moldova, Lithuania, and Slovakia to provide consular support to British nationals who leave Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Foreign Office travel advice warns: “In the event of a military incursion, it is likely that commercial routes out of Ukraine will be severely disrupted and roads across Ukraine could be closed.”<\/p>\n
Wizz Air announced it will continue to operate flights connecting Luton Airport with Kiev and Lviv.<\/p>\n
