He has called for Ukrainians to be killed and strongly pushed Russia to invade for decades.<\/p>\n<p>In his youth, Dugin emerged as a leader of the notorious anti-Semitic Russian nationalist organisation, Pamyat.<\/p>\n<p>He founded his own publishing house after the fall of the USSR, going on to win university positions for his writings.<\/p>\n<p>Dugin believes\u00a0that the Russian Orthodox Church was destined to rule as an empire over all of Europe and Asia \u2014 uniting all the Russian-speaking peoples into a single state.<\/p>\n<p>He laid out his plan for achieving this aim in his 1997 book <span><span>Foundations of Geopolitics<\/span>, a text which still has significant influence within Russian elites and has even been used as a\u00a0<\/span>textbook by the Russian military.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian professor formed the &#8216;Eurasia Party&#8217; in 2001, named after the hypothetical state, which also appears in George Orwell&#8217;s novel 1984.<\/p>\n<p>His novel calls for a Russian empire stretching from Dublin to Vladivostok, even calling for parts of China to be conquered.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dugin was dismissed from his position as head of the Department of Sociology of International Relations at Moscow University after arguing for &#8216;people&#8217;s republics&#8217; on the territory of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Seven years later, his position would become a reality after the Kremlin annexed the\u00a0Donetsk People&#8217;s Republic and the Luhansk People&#8217;s Republic out of Ukraine&#8217;s occupied eastern territories.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dugin called for the annexation of Crimea as far back as 2008, during Russia&#8217;s war with Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>He travelled to the disputed region of South Ossetia, where he was photographed with a rocket launcher.<\/p>\n<p>He was also involved with coordinating separatist movements in Ukraine during the 2014 occupation, for which the US sanctioned him.<\/p>\n<p>The political scientist claims he also played a key role in reconciling the relationship between Russia and Turkey in 2015 after a Russian warplane was shot down on the Syrian border.<\/p>\n<p>Dugin also developed links with far-right and far-left political parties in the European Union, attempting\u00a0to influence EU policy on Ukraine and Russia.<\/p>\n<p>In a more menacing turn, some experts even suggest it could have been Moscow itself which attempted to kill Dugin.<\/p>\n<p>Historian and author Yuri Felshtinsky: &#8216;The blowing up of the car of the famous Russian fascist and ideologist of the Putin regime, Alexander Dugin, was organized, it seems, by the Russian security services.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The i\u00a0 reports he added:\u00a0&#8216;On the latest Russian reports, the bomb was attached to Dugin&#8217;s car inside his guarded compound. Ukraine focuses on military targets, unlike Russia, and there is no discernable gain in attacking one of Putin&#8217;s media puppets or allocating scarce operatives inside the Russian Federation to such a goal that is meaningless to the liberation of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The Kremlin will, however, likely exploit it to make it seem as if Ukraine is stooping to its own tactics of bombing harmless civilians in Ukraine.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>A distressing video from Baza media shows the bereft father &#8211; known as Putin&#8217;s &#8216;Rasputin&#8217; &#8211; at the scene of the explosion.<\/p>\n<p>The car is seen as a fireball as emergency services sirens wail. Reports said she died on the spot.<\/p>\n<p>But her father &#8211; seen as the brains behind Putin&#8217;s interference in Ukraine from 2014 &#8211; was intended to be in the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado which was hit, but the former professor apparently switched cars at the last minute.<\/p>\n<p>The explosion took place as Ms Dugina was returning from a cultural festival she had attended with her father.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dugina was a political analyst and editor of pro-Putin journal United World International and a joint author of a book on Putin&#8217;s war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Her father is the author of an extreme rightwing view of Russia&#8217;s role in the world which held an appeal to Putin.<\/p>\n<p>The pair were pictured together at a pro-Putin public event shortly before she was slain.<\/p>\n<p>Andrey Krasnov, the head of the Russian Horizon social movement and a close friend of the dead woman, said: &#8216;I knew Darya personally.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;This was the father&#8217;s vehicle. Darya\u2026 took his car today, while Alexander went in a different way. He returned, and he was at the site of the tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;As far as I understand, Alexander or probably both of them were the target.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>There is no direct evidence Ukraine or its agents were involved in the Moscow attack, but\u00a0senior pro-Putin war supporters were quick to demand an all out attack on Kyiv over the alleged assassination.<\/p>\n<p>Margarita Simonyan, head of RT &#8216;propaganda&#8217; network, posted on Telegram: &#8216;Decision-making centres! Decision-making centres!! Decision-making centres!!!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Her call echoes a demand from hardliners loyal to Putin for him to wreak havoc with massive missile strikes on central Kyiv.<\/p>\n<p>Propaganda journalist Maxim Kononenko messaged: &#8216;The address of the main building of the SBU [Ukrainian secret services]: Volodymyrska 33, Kyiv. I&#8217;m going to try to sleep now, and when I wake up, I hope to read on the news that it was f****** bombed along with its basements.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>There were also warnings that other pro-Putin propagandists could be in danger.<\/p>\n<p>Denis Pushilin, the head of the Donetsk People&#8217;s Republic [DPR], a pro-Moscow puppet state in eastern Ukraine, posted: &#8216;The terrorists of the Ukrainian regime, trying to eliminate Alexander Dugin blew up his daughter&#8230;in a car. Blessed memory of Daria, she is a real Russian girl.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He directly blamed &#8216;terrorists of the Ukrainian regime&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Dugina was described as &#8216;a young, smart, beautiful and incredibly talented and sympathetic woman&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>While he has no formal role in government, Dugin, a far-Right occult writer who used to edit the staunchly pro-Putin Tsargrad TV network, is regarded as the Russian warmonger&#8217;s &#8216;guru advisor&#8217; and reportedly exerts heavy influence over him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He is credited with giving new life to the term Novorossiya (New Russia), which was adopted by Putin to justify his annexation of Crimea in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Dugin has long dreamed of an expansionist Russia, advocating for Russian rule &#8216;from Dublin to Vladisvostok&#8217; in his 1997 book Foundations of Geopolitics. Russian propaganda channel claims troops have been poisoned in Ukraine amid fears the Kremlin is planning to use fake news as an excuse to deploy chemical weapons\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p>The Kremlin&#8217;s propaganda arm has claimed Russian troops were &#8216;poisoned in a chemical attack in Ukraine&#8217;, prompting fears Moscow will seek to justify the use of chemical weapons in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Putin mouthpiece Russia Today reported traces of Botulinum toxin Type B, which is an &#8216;organic poison of artificial origin,&#8217; were found in samples taken from soldiers, according to a statement from Russia&#8217;s defence ministry.<\/p>\n<p>But Kyiv hit back, suggesting the soldiers simply could have eaten contaminated meat.<\/p>\n<p>Kyiv was accused of &#8216;domestic terrorism&#8217; and Russian troops were &#8216;hospitalised with signs of severe poisoning&#8217; after being stationed near the village of Vasilyevka in the Zaporozhzhia region on July 31.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added: &#8216;The Zelensky regime has authorized terrorist attacks with the use of toxic substances against Russian personnel and civilians.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The Russian Ministry&#8217;s report did not say how many servicemen had suffered or what their condition was now. It did not say what the &#8216;supporting evidence&#8217; was.<\/p>\n<p>Botulinum toxin type B is a neurotoxin that can cause botulism when ingested in previously contaminated food products, but it can also have medical uses.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s interior ministry adviser Anton Gerashchenko said: &#8216;The department (Russian defence ministry) does not clarify whether the poisoning could have been caused by expired canned meat, in which botulinum toxin is often found.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Overdue rations have been massively complained about by the occupying forces since the first days of the invasion of Ukraine.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The Russian defence ministry said it was conducting an additional investigation into an incident in which Volodymyr Saldo, the Russian-installed administration in Ukraine&#8217;s occupied Kherson region, was taken ill.<\/p>\n<p>Saldo, a former mayor of the city of Kherson who was appointed to head the region of the same name when Russian troops overran it in early March, fell ill in early August.<\/p>\n<p>Russia says its &#8216;special military operation&#8217; launched on Feb. 24 is aimed at demilitarizing Ukraine and protecting Russian speakers on what President Vladimir Putin called historical Russian land.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine and Western countries view it as an unprovoked war of conquest aimed at wiping out Ukraine&#8217;s national identity.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, it was reported Ukrainian emergency workers were carrying out drills in the event of a meltdown at the Zaporizhizhia plant. The nuclear plant is not located in the Ukrainian-controlled city that shares its name, but is actually 30 miles down the Dnipro River on Russian-occupied territory.<\/p>\n<p>Kyiv says Moscow has turned the nuclear plant &#8211; Europe&#8217;s largest &#8211; into a military base, stored explosives in and around the reactors, and is preparing a &#8216;false flag&#8217; attack. Ukraine&#8217;s nuclear regulator says the Russian commander in charge of the plant has told his troops they must be ready to blow it up rather than let Ukraine re-take it.<\/p>\n<p>Russia has occupied the power plant since the early weeks of Putin&#8217;s war in Ukraine, after its forces swept out of occupied Crimea and took control of large areas of southern Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>However, warnings about the stability of the plant have stepped up in recent weeks as Russia attempts to disconnect it from Ukraine&#8217;s main power grid and divert its energy to Crimea &#8211; and as a major Ukrainian counter-offensive to re-take the south ratchets up.<\/p>\n<p>Guterres was due in Lviv Saturday alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the situation around the power plant and the possibility of sending in a team of international inspectors to ensure its safety.<\/p>\n<p>Erdogan, making his first visit to Ukraine since the war began, was also due to discuss a deal to allow Ukrainian ships carrying vital loads of grain out of the country to avoid a global famine.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev confirmed the attack, writing on Telegram:\u00a0&#8216;Unfortunately, [the drone] was not shot down, although they worked on the bay with small arms. [It] went low. There were no victims.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He warned: &#8216;The tenacity of these Ukro-Reich morons is amazing.\u00a0Everyone, if possible, needs to be home in the next hour.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Russia also suffered incoming attacks on resort Yevpatoriya, north of Sevastopol, where one\u00a0man was heard saying: &#8216;This is not funny. Let&#8217;s pack up and get out of here.\u00a0These are no fireworks.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The air defence system was activated in the Western Crimea, the head of Putin&#8217;s regime in annexed Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The target is hit.\u00a0There is no damage, nor any wounded.\u00a0Our military clearly, professionally and effectively carry out their tasks.\u00a0I ask everyone to remain calm and trust only official information.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Initially as the wave of attacks came in, Razvozzhaev said: &#8216;I am at my workplace in the government.\u00a0As well as many of the townspeople, I heard the clapping in the [city] centre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Similar sounds were heard in the Strelka area a little earlier.\u00a0The air defence was operating in the bay.\u00a0Naval artillery [operated] in the centre.\u00a0The same as yesterday.\u00a0According to preliminary data [they were shooting down drones.\u00a0Targets were hit.\u00a0We remain calm.\u00a0The military is doing their job perfectly.\u00a0Let&#8217;s support them.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>However, the fear of attacks on Crimea &#8211; a new development in the war this month &#8211; is palpable among tourists who are fleeing the peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>It is the latest in a string of mystery blasts, widely believed to be inflicted by Ukrainian forces, deep in the occupied peninsula.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Intelligence officials revealed last night how the strikes have crippled the invaders&#8217; military\u00a0capabilities, while also displaying Kyiv&#8217;s ability to wreak havoc on Russian logistics.<\/p>\n<p>It follows a huge blast at a Russian air base in Crimea last week. Western officials have now revealed the incident knocked out half of Russia&#8217;s Black Sea naval aviation force.<\/p>\n<p>A source said: &#8216;They&#8217;ve lost their flagship Moskva, they lost Snake Island, they lost half of their naval aviation package and their military headquarters was struck. I think we can assume attacks by Ukrainians behind enemy lines.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The explosions were reported at an air base near the village of Belbek, on the south-west coast near Sevastopol, HQ of Vladimir Putin&#8217;s Black Sea fleet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the opposite end of the peninsula, the sky has been lit up at Kerch near a huge bridge to Russia, with what Moscow has claimed was fire from its air defences.<\/p>\n<p>Inside Russia, two villages have been evacuated after explosions at an ammunition dump in Belgorod province, more than 60 miles from territory controlled by Ukrainian forces.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kyiv also announced a strike on a bridge at the Kakhovska Dam, near Kherson \u2013 one of the last routes for Russia to supply its troops on the west bank of the Dnipro River.<\/p>\n<p>Such attacks were having a &#8216;significant psychological effect on the Russian leadership&#8217;, said the official.<\/p>\n<p>Russia has denied any aircraft were damaged in what it called an accident at the base, although satellite pictures showed at least eight warplanes completely burned out.<\/p>\n<p>The recent explosions have had a major psychological effect on Moscow&#8217;s leadership, with its invasion of Ukraine at &#8216;near operational standstill&#8217;, Western officials have said.<\/p>\n<p>More than half of the Russian navy&#8217;s Black Sea Fleet combat jets were put out of action in blasts last week at the Russian-operated Saky military airfield in\u00a0western Crimea, an area Moscow previously considered secure, according to Britain&#8217;s Ministry of Defence (MoD).<\/p>\n<p>The Kremlin is busy seeking to allocate blame for the debacle and President Putin is struggling to hide Ukraine&#8217;s success from the Russian population.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as thousands of Russians fleeing Crimea have streamed into the country, officials said on Friday, and as a\u00a0fire at a munitions depot near the Russian village of Timonovo has led to the evacuation of two villages in Russia&#8217;s Belgorod region.<\/p>\n<p>Roughly 1,100 people reside in the villages of Timonovo and Soloti, around 15 miles from the Ukrainian border.
