Beer sales rocketed 50% as supporters hit the bottle to settle their nerves before watching Gareth Southgate's side thrash Senegal 3-0.<\/p>\n

Fans who poured into the nation\u2019s 30,000 pubs necked 15m ales.<\/p>\n

Another 20m were polished off at home as an estimated 24m tuned in to watch the desert duel in Qatar on TV.<\/p>\n

Experts reckon almost half the country was in bleary after-shock following what was the biggest Sunday for pubs and home-drinking since the Euro 2020 final in July last year.<\/p>\n

Two million employees are expected to call in sick on Monday (December 5) while a bumper 17m staff work from home to keep headaches out of sight of bosses, according to employee absence analyst Bright HR.<\/p>\n

A further 2m more workers will take the day as holiday with annual leave bookings up almost 10% compared to before the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Alan Price, chief executive officer of Bright HR, said: \u201dWorld Cup mania has taken hold. "Some employees are making provision for Hangover Monday\u201d.<\/p>\n
