One thing Noah Stefan Maris is, however, is the first baby welcomed in Boulder County in 2023.

Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette welcomed his arrival at 12:42 a.m. Sunday morning.

Noah is the son of Alex and Andra Maris. He weighed in at 6 pounds, 8.8 ounces and is 20 inches long. According to a press release sent by Good Samaritan, the parents are proud to report that their son is “happy and healthy.”

“Noah tried to come out as Superman with hand over head, reaching for the nurse’s finger but was ultimately delivered via C-section,” the parents said in the press release.

Noah’s birth was the first time since 2020 that a baby born somewhere other than Longmont rang in the New Year first in Boulder County. The past two years the first baby born in the county was in Longmont.

Boulder Community Health welcomed a baby girl at 1:01 a.m. at its Foothills Hospital Family Birth Center, along with a baby boy at 5:41 a.m. at its Birth Center of Boulder, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Good Samaritan has been recognized as a baby-friendly designation and follows the highest standards of care for mothers and their babies. Good Samaritan was Colorado’s first hospital to be designated as baby friendly.
