Sign up to the Daily Star&#8217;s newsletter<\/p>\n<p>We have more newsletters<\/p>\n<p>A woman who was &quot;rescued from sexual slavery&quot; found herself in a toxic affair with a charity boss.<\/p>\n<p>Lara Hall said she was initially abused by a man she met in Australia in 2012 after she went to visit him in Pakistan, where he was based in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was a nightmare and I was sexually exploited, starved, subject to long periods of confinement,&quot; Lara exclusively told MyLondon.<\/p>\n<p><b>READ MORE: Exact day Arctic blast will return to Britain bringing six inches of snow and -8C<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Looking for a way out, she came across the British Pakistani Christian Association (BPCA), an Ilford-based charity spearheaded by Wilson Chowdhry, 47, who she believed had helped previous victims with similar cases to hers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article29055540.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_LARA-HALL-STORY-11jpeg.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Chowdhry appeared sympathetic to Lara&apos;s plight and the pair&apos;s initial conversations were strictly professional.<\/p>\n<p>He even flew out to New South Wales in Australia to meet Lara during which time the 34-year-old said &quot;no lines were crossed&quot; &#8211; however, when Chowdhry returned to the UK, Lara said he started calling her as often as he could.<\/p>\n<p>Lara claimed their communication gradually took a romantic turn and the pair eventually struck up an affair, with Chowdhry travelling between London and Australia &#8211; despite having a wife and three children.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article29055557.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_LARA-HALL-STORY-10jpeg.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article29054544.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/1_Poundland-plans-to-open-half-a-million-square-feet-of-retail-space-in-FY-2023.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> Poundland launches bid to save UK high street \u2013 full list of new stores opening<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But soon sweet nothings allegedly turned into menacing demands that became increasingly explicit.<\/p>\n<p>Chowdhry reportedly made blunt requests for rough oral sex up to &quot;five times a day&quot; and detailed plans for the pair to visit a prostitute together.<\/p>\n<p>Lara claimed Chowdhry would also grab her flesh, demanding she lose weight and saying he wanted her to be &quot;anorexic&quot; and a &quot;trophy wife&quot;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article29055556.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_LARA-HALL-STORY-7jpeg.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was like Stockholm syndrome. I thought I loved him,&quot; she added.<\/p>\n<p>In WhatsApp messages, Chowdhry allegedly asked for &quot;saucy images&quot; of Lara&apos;s identical twin sister and demanded she get a tattoo on her bum as &quot;that\u2019s where slaves are marked and you&apos;re my b***h.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>In another series of texts, he is understood to have said: &quot;Suck my big hard c***. Drink my protein-filled j***.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article29055544.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_LARA-HALL-STORY-6jpeg.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Eventually, with Lara in Australia and Chowdhry back in the UK, she said she began to realise what she was experiencing wasn&apos;t normal.<\/p>\n<p>She contacted several safeguarding organisations but said her concerns &quot;fell on deaf ears&quot; until she reached out to Barking MP Dame Margaret Hodge, who accused the UK&apos;s Charity Commission of a &quot;dereliction of duty&quot; for its handling of the case.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article29055541.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_LARA-HALL-STORY-3.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Weeks later Lara was given time with the assistant head of case management at the commission, Tracy Howarth.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Howarth said in a call to Lara: &quot;This organisation will no longer be able to call themselves a charity, and that in itself means that assurance and confidence is removed.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We are absolutely determined in bringing this about and ensuring this charity winds up and publishing the report in the public interest.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article29055554.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_LARA-HALL-STORY-5jpeg.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Things had been looking up but after Chowdhry resigned as a BPCA trustee in June 2019, the charity was allowed to operate again with his wife, Juliet, in charge.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It shouldn&apos;t be up to me to point out the blinding obvious that it&apos;s totally inappropriate for her to take up the mantle,&quot; Lara said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I feel he is a puppet master. I want public accountability and justice.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>A Charity Commission spokesperson said: &quot;It is not open to the Commission to &apos;remove charitable status&apos; as a sanction. It is not accurate to suggest that we &apos;promised&apos; an external party that the charity would be &apos;struck off the register&apos;. However, we have accepted that our communication regarding the charity\u2019s future could have been clearer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article29055546.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_LARA-HALL-STORY-8jpeg.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe took robust action in this case. We considered all powers available to us, and issued the trustees with an official warning.
