Kate Middleton has overseen a Palace insider shake-up, hiring a "ball breaker" to be her right-hand woman during her time in the public eye.

The Princess of Wales has hired the "straight-talking" no-nonsense brand management expert Alison Corfield as a way of monitoring her public persona.

It comes as the Duchess of Cambridge looks to "shake things up" at Kensington Palace, bringing in a new senior aide, with the former air stewardess set to start later this month.

Alison, 51, was best known for spearheading the Jamie Oliver childhood obesity campaign, which saw junk food in schools somewhat reduced, The Mirror reported.

The 51-year-old replaces the former senior aide to Kate, private secretary and Foreign and Commonwealth Office diplomat Hannah Cockburn-Logie, who stepped down last autumn.

A source who previously worked for Ms Corfield said: "She's a ball-breaker, a real straight-talker, very passionate, dynamic and genuinely funny. She makes things happen and will really push things forward at the Palace."

The new appointment for Kate comes just a week after her recent Shaping Up campaign launched, an attempt at profiling her "life's work" so far.

A royal source speaking to The Sunday Times noted the appointment was an "unusual fit" and that it was "a bit out there".
