A British businessman has been charged with the rape of a British Airways air stewardess at a hotel during a layover, according to reports.<\/p>\n
Daniel Johnson allegedly attacked the flight attendant in her 20s at the \u00a3300 a night five-star hotel in Barbados.<\/p>\n
The 41-year-old stood before Bridgetown, Barbados Magistrate Court charged with rape but was granted bail at \u00a34,000 and ordered to hand over his passport.<\/p>\n

According to The Daily Mail, Johnson must also report to a police station twice a week as part of his bail conditions. <\/p>\n
The publication added that the businessman, who is a partner at \u2018Endless Electrics\u2019 a firm which sells electric vehicles, lived on the island for the past seven years.<\/p>\n

Police understand Johnson was known to the woman, and that prior to the attack the pair had attended a meal with other BA workers.<\/p>\n
The unnamed woman claims Johnson attacked her after she invited him back to the hotel with her.<\/p>\n
Police say they were initially unable to locate Johnson after the report but confirmed he was later arrested.<\/p>\n
Although they were unable to interrogate him immediately, after discovering he had tested positive for Covid.<\/p>\n
The publication added that the victim has remained on the island while police launched an investigation.<\/p>\n
An airline source said it was "an unimaginable time" for the stewardess and the rest of the crew.<\/p>\n

They said: "What was one of the most magical parts of working for BA – heading out on the town in Barbados and staying at a lavish hotel \u2013 turned into a nightmare.<\/p>\n
"The stewardess was brave enough to go to the police and report the attack.<\/p>\n
"And her colleagues did not hesitate to provide supporting statements as part of the ongoing investigation."<\/p>\n
A BA flight from Barbados to London was cancelled earlier this week while four of the woman's colleagues gave statements.<\/p>\n

Over 150 passengers were put up in a hotel overnight, unaware of the allegations which prompted the last-minute cancellation.<\/p>\n
Insiders added: "The airline has experienced support now on the ground in Barbados.<\/p>\n
"Everyone is supporting the Barbados police in every way possible."<\/p>\n
The airline sent out its own investigator to offer help and support.<\/p>\n
Barbados Police spokesman Inspector Rodney Innis said: "Employees from the British Airways have given statements on the matter."<\/p>\n
