Photo: Samuel Corum\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>One year ago today, a pro-Trump mob stormed police barricades and invaded the U.S. Capitol, where lawmakers had convened to certify the results of President Biden&#x27;s Electoral College victory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It was a shocking, violent and historic day.<\/strong> Here&#x27;s how it all unfolded: <\/p>\n<h5>8 a.m.:<\/h5>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.axios.com\/HTB458MpXyjfx33-bj3dXPXFhJI=\/2022\/01\/05\/1641420623810.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Then-President Trump on the morning of Jan. 6, 2021, posts a series of tweets asking then-Vice President Mike Pence to not certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&quot;States want to correct their votes, which they now know were based on irregularities and fraud, plus corrupt process never received legislative approval. All Mike Pence has to do is send them back to the States, AND WE WIN. Do it Mike, this is a time for extreme courage!&quot; Trump writes at 8:17 a.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>11 a.m.:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Trump supporters gather near the White House for the &quot;Stop the Steal&quot; rally, where they wait for Trump to deliver remarks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.axios.com\/YaO0AJlBvjptpYM8UQ4REQFK0wM=\/2022\/01\/05\/1641408964814.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.axios.com\/-nO4OKMqzkyZ7aXEKkbu4W1oXgw=\/2022\/01\/05\/1641409330674.None\" width=\"6000\"\/><\/p>\n<h5>12 p.m.: <\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Trump speaks at the Stop the Steal rally, where he makes false claims about the election being stolen and tells the crowd to &quot;never give up.&quot; Trump&#x27;s speech lasts for around an hour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.axios.com\/WIfVq6bhy44sYDn8Pqyqsat6MOo=\/2022\/01\/05\/1641398884028.jpg\"><\/p>\n<h5>1 p.m.: <\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>At around 1:05 p.m., House Speaker Nancy Pelosi presides over the Electoral College vote certification for Biden during a joint session of Congress at the Capitol.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.axios.com\/-0XXv9I2Z2FAk-JWaMrrVPCmRzU=\/2022\/01\/05\/1641405055513.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At 1:10 p.m., Trump tells his supporters at the end of his speech, &quot;we&#x27;re going to the Capitol&quot; to give &quot;our Republicans &#8230; the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.&quot;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>At 1:12 p.m., Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) object to the certification of the electoral votes for the state of Arizona.
