The upcoming coronation of King Charles III has been labelled as a very "important" moment that will bring "crown and people" together after a tense year.

King Charles' upcoming coronation marks an "important" moment for the King of England and the monarchy itself, with one royal expert believing it will mark a "solemn" next step for the Royal Family.

Dr David Crankshaw believes the coronation in May will serve as a "litmus test" for the family as they prepare for an important occasion.

King Charles will likely display the "values and aspirations" of the Royal Family under his reign at an event likely mired by the fallout of Prince Harry's autobiography, Spare, which levelled the family with a series of allegations.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, Dr Crankshaw told us: "The Coronation ceremony is obviously important for the person being crowned, and for the monarchy as an institution, but it is also important for the nation generally and for those across the world for whom Charles III is a new Head of State.

"Coronations have traditionally been rare opportunities for connecting Crown, Church, governments and peoples. What goes in them is a litmus test of values and aspirations. Solemn commitments are made."

He added that the "importance" of the coronation also "lies in more than simply the events happening inside Westminster Abbey".

Dr Crankshaw cited the "myriad meetings, processions and festivities surrounding Coronations" as "hugely significant politically, socially, economically and artistically."
