{"id":179494,"date":"2023-08-03T15:07:04","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T15:07:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/?p=179494"},"modified":"2023-08-03T15:07:04","modified_gmt":"2023-08-03T15:07:04","slug":"brit-who-was-attacked-on-greek-island-still-in-hospital-a-year-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/world-news\/brit-who-was-attacked-on-greek-island-still-in-hospital-a-year-later\/","title":{"rendered":"Brit who was attacked on Greek island still in hospital a year later"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>British holidaymaker, 24, who suffered a brutal beating in \u2018unprovoked attack\u2019 on Greek island is still in hospital a year later<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pete Roberts suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries while in Zakynthos<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The attack in July last year that left him battling for his life in a coma for six weeks<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A young British holidaymaker who suffered a brutal beating in an &#8216;unprovoked attack&#8217; on a Greek island is still in hospital a year later.<\/p>\n<p>Pete Roberts, 24, suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries in the attack in Zakynthos on July 20 last year that left him battling for his life in a coma for six weeks.<\/p>\n<p>He had gone on holiday with friends when he was assaulted on a night out, fracturing<span>\u00a0his skull in two places, causing a severe brain bleed and life-threatening swelling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>His parents Lesley and Ray, from Anglesey in North Wales, flew out to be with him following the brutal attack which left them fearing for his life.<\/p>\n<p>Pete was flown back to the UK\u00a0in critical condition in September and is now at the Complex Rehabilitation Unit at Walton Hospital in Liverpool.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/03\/15\/73924401-12369381-image-a-3_1691072139056.jpg\" height=\"1044\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Pete Roberts (pictured), 24, suffered a brutal beating in an &#8216;unprovoked attack&#8217; on the Greek island of\u00a0Zakynthos last year<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/03\/14\/73924381-12369381-image-a-4_1691068546424.jpg\" height=\"686\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries that left him battling for his life in a coma for six weeks<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/03\/14\/73924389-12369381-image-a-6_1691068560566.jpg\" height=\"555\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Pete was flown back to the UK in critical condition in September and is now at the Complex Rehabilitation Unit at Walton Hospital in Liverpool<\/p>\n<p>Pete was rushed to Zakynthos Hospital following the &#8216;vicious&#8217; attack and was later air lifted to Tzaneio Hospital in the Greek capital of Athens when they realised the extent of his injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He underwent an emergency Craniotomy where the right side of Pete&#8217;s skull was removed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was induced into a coma and was put on life support before miraculously waking up after six weeks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But, just two days later, Pete&#8217;s lungs collapsed and he was placed back into a coma, with drains inserted into his chest to clear the fluid that was preventing him from breathing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pete&#8217;s immune system had started to fail and he was at risk of sepsis from several infections he was fighting.
