{"id":182401,"date":"2023-10-09T01:27:27","date_gmt":"2023-10-09T01:27:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/?p=182401"},"modified":"2023-10-09T01:27:27","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T01:27:27","slug":"union-claims-men-face-bullying-over-the-manopause","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/precoinnews.com\/world-news\/union-claims-men-face-bullying-over-the-manopause\/","title":{"rendered":"Union claims men face bullying over the &apos;manopause&apos;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Union claims men face bullying over the &#8216;manopause&#8217; and says employers have a &#8216;duty of care&#8217; to protect those experiencing it<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Community Union has warned that employers have a duty of care to workers<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Emoloyers have a &#8216;duty of care&#8217; to protect men going through the menopause, according to a union.<\/p>\n<p>Describing it as &#8216;a normal biological change that every man experiences&#8217;, it insists men should not be embarrassed to admit if they have symptoms such as poor sleep and hot flushes.<\/p>\n<p>Workplaces must protect them from bullying or harassment or could face legal action, the advice warns.<\/p>\n<p>Sufferers are encouraged to ask for help from bosses, such as for special uniforms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Community Union, which represents a range of sectors including steel and justice, says people suffering severe andropause \u2013 or &#8216;male menopause&#8217; \u2013 could even be classed as disabled.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/09\/01\/76126537-12608981-Managers_are_being_advised_to_recognise_symptoms_from_hot_flushe-a-183_1696811741729.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>It comes after a Daily Mail audit revealed dozens of councils, universities, police forces, fire services and NHS trusts have guidelines on the issue (Stock Image)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It says men going through andropause would be protected by the Equality Act, designed to shield workers from discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>Last night critics described the guidelines as &#8216;an absolute joke&#8217;. Charlie Mullins, the founder of Pimlico Plumbers, said: &#8216;I would rather go to a tribunal than give in to this &#8216;manopause&#8217; nonsense.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It comes after a Daily Mail audit revealed dozens of councils, universities, police forces, fire services and\u00a0NHS\u00a0trusts have guidelines on the issue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is despite NHS England&#8217;s website branding the term &#8216;misleading&#8217; because it suggests men suffer a sudden drop in testosterone in middle age, similar to female menopause.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/09\/01\/66805885-12608981-Like_with_women_the_male_menopause_is_used_to_describe_the_perio-a-184_1696811768787.jpg\" height=\"468\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Like with women, the male menopause is used to describe the period in an adult man&#8217;s life when his hormone levels crash<\/p>\n<p>Community states in advice to members: &#8216;You should not feel ashamed to talk about a normal biological change that every man experiences&#8230;
