Listen now on Spotify, Apple or wherever you get your podcasts\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Who could object to a warm phone conversation between birthday boy King Charles and prodigal son Harry?<\/p>\n<p>And it really is good news if, as reported in The Daily Telegraph, the private chat on Tuesday marked a \u2018turning point\u2019 in the father-son relationship.<\/p>\n<p>But the key word here is \u2018private\u2019, says Richard Eden in the latest edition of his Palace Confidential newsletter.<\/p>\n<p>How did the BBC know ahead of time that Prince Harry\u00a0would ring his father? And how, afterwards, did the Daily Telegraph discover the contents of a conversation to which few others can have been privy?<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/16\/13\/77879011-12757381-image-a-51_1700140219757.jpg\" height=\"568\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>King Charles turned 75 on Tuesday but Prince Harry was not at the private family celebration<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/16\/13\/77879029-12757381-image-a-60_1700140362471.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>It has been reported that Charles spoke to his younger son on the phone &#8211; and one media outlet had surprising detail of what had been said<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/16\/13\/77879025-12757381-image-a-61_1700140368300.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The King spent much of his birthday promoting his campaign against food waste<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/16\/13\/77879023-12757381-image-m-54_1700140242594.jpg\" height=\"1040\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The BBC seemed to know beforehand that the King would talk to Harry on the phone while, afterwards, The Daily Telegraph seemed to know what had been discussed<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t know the answer to those questions.
