Nigel Farage reacts to record net migration figures

Nigel Farage’s plane from Australia is set to touch down at Heathrow after his self-imposed exile in the jungle for I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.

The former Brexit Party and Ukip leader is returning to the UK amid intense speculation that his jaunt on the hit ITV reality show was part of a planned political comeback.

With Reform UK leader Richard Tice talking up a return to the front line of British politics for the man who helped bring about and win the EU referendum, Conservative MPs are increasingly uneasy about Farage’s impact on the current political scene.

Farage lands at Heathrow just hours after Rishi Sunak narrowly avoided defeat over his Rwanda Bill to allow deportation flights of illegal migrants to go ahead to East Africa.

A threatened rebellion of the right of his party was postponed until the New Year but with civil war raging the Conservatives are in chaos.

One Conservative MP said last night: “Farage coming back in a wave of publicity is the last thing we need at the moment.”

Another Tory added: “If he really does announce he’s going back into politics that is going to give Refom a huge boost and split our vote.

“It’s bad enough as it is but that would guarnatee a wipeout.”

With some polls putting Reform UK on 12 percent, it is thought that Farage could push that up by another five points.

Mr Tice said: “We could soon be in the mid-teens and the Tories just a few points ahead in the late teens then it is all to play for.”

It means that the Tories, who according to the latest polls are already looking at their worst-ever election results, could be wiped out.
