A toddler has died in Melbourne\u2019s south-east after being hit by a car on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Police are investigating the circumstances after the two-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle on Stud Road in Dandenong North just after midday.<\/p>\n
CPR was performed on the child but they died at the scene, police said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries. The exact circumstances of the crash are yet to be determined.<\/p>\n
The collision happened on a busy part of the highway, outside Dandenong Stadium recreation centre and near a playground and popular reserve.<\/p>\n
There have been 281 deaths on Victoria\u2019s roads so far this year, up nearly 21 per cent on last year, according to Transport Accident Commission data.<\/p>\n
Road crashes are the leading cause of death for Australian children aged one to 14 and the second-biggest killer of Australians aged 15 to 25.<\/p>\n
