Just Stop Oil activists protest on Waterloo Bridge in London

Having a nice lie down, are we? Just Stop Oil activists stage more ‘die ins’ on Waterloo Bridge – as police start long job of removing them

Just Stop Oil protesters descended on Waterloo Bridge today as they slow marched and sat in the road, bringing rush-hour traffic chaos to Central London.

The demonstration began at about 9.30am, and the Metropolitan Police told the activists to move out of the road to continue protesting on the pavement.

Scotland Yard said officers were on scene within a minute of the report and began making arrests when the protesters failed to comply with the order.

Police added: ‘A group of five Just Stop Oil activists, who were part of the original demonstration on Waterloo Bridge, are slow marching along The Strand.

‘These are the final activists in the road. Officers are with them and making arrests.’
