A Halloween horror mix of floods, snow and storms is set to freak out revellers.

A weekend washout is hitting trick or treaters, with heavy downpours causing more floods in the North and South. Waves of up to 20ft are also due on South West coasts today.

And snow will follow just a day after British Summer Time ended this morning (Sunday, October 29). Mountain Weather Information Service said: “Upland snowfalls are forecast in Scotland with a lowering of temperatures, leaving the Munro hills sub-zero for several days.”

A 400-mile-wide -1C easterly chill from Norway arrives in northern England and Scotland tomorrow (Monday, October 30). And a 60mph storm is set to bring more gales and washouts on Wednesday and Thursday, with the South most at risk.

A Met Office forecaster said: “Further showers, rain and strong winds are forecast for most until Tuesday. Then very unsettled or stormy conditions are likely nationwide, with heavy rainfall and strong winds.”

It comes after the Daily Star reported yesterday that the UK is headed for more destructive weather as heavy showers and 70mph winds threaten to unleash havoc on the country. London and the south of England, the Highlands and northeast of Scotland and Northern Ireland are among the areas affected, with downpours expected to batter the regions.

Nearly four inches of rain could fall in the worst-affected areas, causing travel chaos and flooding similar to that seen during Storm Babet earlier this month. Yellow weather warnings have been issued over the next three days, starting today (Saturday, October 28), and ending at midnight on Monday.
