‘Neighbour let weapon American Bully XL rag my helpless cat to death on purpose’

A young woman has claimed that her neighbour let her dangerous American Bully XL 'rag' her cat by the neck until it died, doing so 'on purpose'.

Bereaved owner Amy alleges her 11-year-old cat was lazing in an alleyway on Smithdown Road in Liverpool on July 2, when a female neighbour "purposely let her onto the cat, ending in the sad loss of my beautiful bear".

The woman said she has reported the matter to Merseyside Police, who are investigating the incident. "The woman needs the dog taken off her as she's using it as a weapon," the woman wrote on Instagram.

"This cat meant the absolute world to me and I'm lost without her company. We've been inseparable since I was eight," she wrote alongside a picture of her and KC.

She added: "I'm really hoping KC's death isn't wasted and we can save other animals, and people, from this dog".

Her housemate, Sass Jones, described what happened when the collarless 'security dog' got a hold of the ageing cat.

She told the Daily Star: "It chased her down and latched onto her neck and ragged her around. It took like four neighbours to separate them and a tall lad managed to hold her above his head and still the dog was jumping up still trying to get her."

Sass added the heroic neighbours managed to trap the uncontrollable beast in a stranger's garden, but it had inflicted fatal damage on KC.

"There is no reason for a giant dog to be in that alley where there is at least eight neighbourhood cats that laze in the sun," Sass added.

To make matters worse, Amy and Sass feel the neighbour appears unrepentant and claim she even called around to the house and refused to leave.

Sass added: "She turned up at the house the day after the incident and Amy’s boyfriend let her thinking she was just a helpful neighbour.

"And when I saw her I asked her multiple times to get out but she didn’t, and she kept shouting from behind me at Amy."

Sass, originally from Bradford, West Yorks., claims that the woman has tried to force neighbours into taking down social media posts about her dog.

Merseyside Police have been contacted for comment.
