A 32-year-old man is in hospital after he was shot by a police officer in the inner city on Sunday afternoon.
NSW Police said emergency services were called to check on someone’s welfare at Chisholm Street, Darlinghurst at 4.40pm on Sunday.

Upon arrival, officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command and paramedics were allegedly confronted by a man armed with a knife.
NSW Police said a constable shot the man, who is now at St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Police established a crime scene, and a number of residential streets were temporarily closed.
Police have opened a critical incident investigation, to be led by a team from Leichhardt Police Area Command, which will look at the entire incident including the shooting.
NSW Police said the investigation will be subject to an independent review.
