Putin flaunts nuclear suitcases in China
Valery Gerasimov said that an all-out war with NATO could be imminent when speaking to senior Russian commanders in 2019.
General Gerasimov now serves as the commander of all Russian forces in Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin’s chief of general staff said the West was quietly preparing for a “large-scale military conflict” that would drag in Russia and other countries.
The eerie World War Three prediction has recently resurfaced, amid a grinding battle in Ukraine and the threat of a regional war escalating from the current Israel-Hamas war.
He told the Russian military officers in the room that the West had assigned “adversary status” to Russia – three years before the Ukraine invasion, the Daily Mirror reports.
He added that NATO was working on faster deployment of forces to the “eastern flank”.
This comes as the West continues to pour billions into Ukraine to support its fight against Russian forces.
Meanwhile, in Israel and Palestine, the US and NATO are seen as backers of Israel while Russia has spoken out against Israel’s bombardment of Gaza.
During the speech, the top general said: “Work continues on the deployment of US missile defence components in Europe.
“In the Baltic countries and Poland, the Black and Baltic seas, military activity is intensifying, the intensity of the bloc’s military exercises is rising.

“Their scenarios point to NATO’s targeted preparation for engaging its forces in a large-scale military conflict.”
He slammed the West for exaggerating the Russian military threat, warning that over-the-top rhetoric could accidentally spill over into a real conflict.
At the time, in 2019, President Putin’s top general said that reducing the risk “of dangerous military incidents should remain the most important area in the dialogue between Russia with the US and NATO”.

He added: “It is necessary to resume interaction between Russia and NATO in order to resolve the accumulated problematic issues.
“There are currently no prerequisites for a large-scale war.
“At the same time, the situation in the world remains unstable, and its development is becoming more and more dynamic.”
Last month, the Washington Post reported that Ukraine made several attempts to assassinate General Gerasimov while he visited the frontline in Ukraine.
General Gerasimov was on a list of several top commanders that Ukraine’s security service was trying to kill.
