Police have found a gunman dead following a large-scale manhunt for a suspect they described as "armed and extremely dangerous."
Cops in Tennessee, US, put out a statement yesterday (November 18) warning the public not to approach Mavis Christian Jnr who they believe was involved in the incidents. Memphis Police Department have since confirmed the man, who was a suspect in the shooting of five women, four of them killed, has died of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"On November 19, 2023, at 3.31am, officers located who is believed to be the suspect, Mavis Christian Jr," the department said. The statement confirmed the man was found in a car. "He was pronounced deceased on the scene," they continued.

"Through the collaborative effort between law enforcement, the community, and the media, the suspect was located quickly without the additional loss of lives."
Officers previously warned the public not to approach Christian should they see him. Posting to X (formerly Twitter), they said: "At 9.22pm, officers responded to the 110 Block of Howard Drive regarding a shooting," the department wrote. "Officers located a female with an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased on the scene.
"Through the course of the investigation, it has been determined that this scene and two other recent shooting scenes are connected and involve the same suspect." The department went on to outline the other two incidents allegedly involving the suspect, including one where two women were killed and another was left in critical condition, and a separate one where a fourth woman was killed.
