Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg has accused Elon Musk of wasting his time and never being ‘serious’ about competing in a much-hyped cage fight.
The maverick Tesla boss, 52, has repeatedly mocked and discussed fighting Zuckerberg, 39, on his social media site, which was recently renamed from Twitter to X.
He also claimed that it could take place soon in a high-profile venue in Italy.
However, posting on his rival social media site Threads, Zuckerberg poured cold water on the claims, writing: ‘I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on.’
The Meta boss went on to accuse his fellow mogul of stalling for time after Musk apparently texted to ask for a ‘practise’ round and indicated he had a minor shoulder ailment.

‘Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead.
‘If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.’
Zuckerberg had again signalled his frustration hours earlier, writing: ‘I love this sport [UFC] and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me.
‘If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on.’
On Friday morning Musk tweeted that his showdown with Zuckerberg will occur at Rome’s Colosseum and it will be managed by their foundations.
Las Vegas was originally pitched as the potential location for a fantasy fight between Facebook billionaire Zuckerberg and X [formerly Twitter] chief Musk, yet reports back in June claimed the Colosseum could be an option.

According to TMZ, Zuckerberg was approached by the Italian Minister of Culture over staging his showdown with Musk at Rome’s legendary battleground, with the latter also tweeting: ‘Some chance fight happens in Colosseum.’
Rome’s Colosseum, one of the world’s seven wonders, is Italy’s most iconic landmark but it has not hosted massive audiences inside for hundreds of years.
