Heart-pounding footage has captured a great white shark breaching the ocean's surface and flying through the air as it rips straight into a helpless seal.
In the clip, filmed for National Geographic's Big Sharks Rule which has recently been put on Disney+, the marine predator is skulking under the surface of the water, perfectly camouflaged, when it spots a group of seals.
The seals try to stick together but eventually get separated and the shark seizes its moment for attack.
Putting on a terrifying turn of speed, the apex predator shoots up from below with its jaws wide open, revealing its hundreds of razor-sharp teeth.
It knocks the seal skywards while crunching down with its powerful bite.
The shark then flies through the air with the seal in its jaws, turning horizontally mid-leap before landing with a huge crash back in the water.
It's over in a split-second and the shark swims away with its prize.
The narrator explains the seal was forced to enter the shark-infested waters to look for food and tragically, luck wasn't on its side.
Huge great white shark leaps out of water to steal catch as fisherman screams
A female great white shark can reach an average length of 16ft in maturity although the largest verified shark on record was a whopping 20ft in length.
The perfectly-adapted marine predators have an extra sense and can detect the heartbeats of their prey by honing in on the electromagnetic field.
A giant great white shark, estimated to be "15ft-long", was recently sighted ripping apart an elephant seal and turning the surrounding water red with blood.
But a similar attack was foiled when astounding once-in-a-lifetime footage showed a great white shark get chased away by an even bigger beast.
Great white sharks are occasionally spotted by humans in the open water and can get a bit close for comfort, like when this shark bit a chunk out of a man's boat.
