An autistic man was left bleeding in a street after being savagely beaten in a random attack.
Ben Wade, 26, was walking home when a man grabbed him, repeatedly punched him in the face and dragged him to the ground before kicking him in the head.
He said the man also tried to strangle him and tried to push his thumbs into his eyes in the attack which took place in Netherton, Merseyside on February 3 around 12.45am.
Poor Ben suffered serious swelling to his eyes, nose and cheeks and has a large bruise to the side of his head, Liverpool Echo reports.
Him mum Kellie said: "Ben was walking home just before 1am when the man walked up the side of him.
"Ben said he didn't feel scared or anything and only noticed the man because he was walking in the road.
"It was only when he got up the side of him that Ben heard him muttering to himself and then he just grabbed him for no reason.
"Ben was punched and kicked over and over again as cars drove past him.
"He says the man was reaching to his neck to strangle him and trying to push his thumbs into his eyes."
Ben told the man the police were coming but he didn't stop and it was only when a car slowed down that the attacker walked away.

Kellie said her son then got a taxi straight to her house where they called the police.
Officers are now appealing for information over the incident and have released a description of the man who attacked Ben.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "The male is described as aged between 35-40 years of age, with dark shoulder-length hair and a long dark beard.
"He was wearing a dark coloured jacket with a yellow trim on the hood and dark coloured pants."
Kellie added: "Ben is very independent and wouldn't think twice about walking to the shop at that time because he has grown up in the area and feels comfortable here.
"But he has Asperger's and suffers from anxiety and I'm worried this will knock his confidence.
"He became worried tonight when it got dark and was concerned about how his brother was going to get home."

Ben is also worried that someone even more vulnerable than himself could be hurt if this man isn't caught and attacks someone else.
Kellie said: "Ben is so caring that he's worried a child or elderly person or a pregnant woman could be attacked next time if this man isn't caught."
Merseyside Police is investigating the attack and is appealing for witnesses.
A spokesperson for the force Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Dunningsbridge Lane/Park Lane in the early hours of Wednesday who heard or saw anything suspicious to contact us.
"I would also ask anyone who recognises the description of the man to get in touch as they may be able to assist our investigation.
"This was clearly an unprovoked attack on a man minding his own business and we need to find the person responsible."
