The weekend snowstorm in northeastern Colorado and Wyoming forced the cancelation of several blood drives, according to Vitalant Blood Donation.
Patients in Colorado, and across the nation, in need of transfusions are relying on donors, Vitalant said on its website and on social media.
“Our hearts are with those affected by the severe storm in the Colorado and Rocky Mountain areas,” the nonprofit said. “If you are in an unaffected area, please donate to make up for the blood and platelet donations that have gone uncollected.”
Vitalant, a nonprofit blood transfusion organization, has multiple locations along the Front Range.
“If you are safely able to reach a donation location, please step up for patients across the country who need transfusions,” Vitalant said.
The organization provides services for about 900 hospitals and their patients across the country.
Appointments can be scheduled online at vitalant.org or by telephone at 877-25-VITAL (877-258-4825).
