A woman was mowed down and knocked unconscious by a group of mounted police who charged at revellers for breaching lockdown rules in a park.
Clashes erupted on Thursday afternoon, April 1, as police attempted to clear the Brussels park in Belgium, with several officers and their horses and at least eight party-goers injured.
Footage shared on Twitter captured one topless woman being trampled over by the police horses when she appears to take off her trousers.
She is knocked over and falls on the grass head-first.
Shocked bystanders rush to her when they see her lying unconsciously on the ground.
Local media reported that she was one of two people taken to hospital in an unknown condition.
Up to 5,000 people descended on Bois de la Cambre park in Brussels for "La Boum", which is translated from French to English as "The Party", an event originally announced on Facebook as a joke.
The organisers had announced several times via social media that the fake festival, which promised eight stages, a hundred DJs and zero coronavirus rules, was all an April Fools Joke, The Brussels Times reported.
The clash started when the police failed to disperse the crowd. Those who refused to leave began throwing objects including bottles at police.
The officers then deployed water cannons, tear gas, pepper spray and a drone to break up the party in the park.
A Brussels police spokeswoman said 22 people were arrested, while eight individuals had been injured, including two that required hospital treatment.
Several police officers and seven police horses were also injured in the clash.
Belgium currently has a 10pm curfew in place in most areas and all bars, cafes and restaurants are closed – as are all of Belgium's schools.
Non-essential shops are open but they can only be visited with a pre-booked appointment.
And, as of March 24, all outdoor gatherings are limited to just four people.
