A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a car ploughed into pedestrians on Blackpool prom.
Cops say 30-year-old Adam Clarke, of Stockport, will appear in the dock today after the incident on the seafront in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The defendant is accused of attempted murder, common assault and dangerous driving in connection with the incident, which happened on the first Saturday after 'freedom day'.
Police were called at 5.25am on Saturday to reports that a red Peugeot had driven at a small group of people near to the North Pier.
It's alleged the car then made off – before finally being stopped in a nearby street by officers.
Meanwhile, the group of pedestrians also left the scene.
It's not clear if they were injured or needed hospital treatment.
Inspector Abi Finch-Hall of Lancashire Police called for them to come forward.
"We want to ensure the pedestrians who were struck by the vehicle are OK and would ask that they please get in touch with us," she said.
"Despite the early hour, there were several pedestrians in the area at the time of the incident.
"We believe there are also witnesses who have not yet been spoken to by police.
"If you were there at this time, if you saw anything, or think you can help in any way, please contact us to to assist with our inquiries."
Anyone with information should CALL police on 101 or email [email protected] quoting log 0338 of July 24.
