Meghan Markle has been flooded with sweet birthday messages from members of the Royal Family – which include several photos from when she was a working senior royal.
The Duchess of Sussex turns 40 today, and is expected to spend the day celebrating with her immediate family, husband Prince Harry and children Archie and Lilibet.
The Royal Family Twitter account shared a series of photos of Meghan while she was a working senior royal, including one picture of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex holding their son Archie during a meeting with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Mrs Tutu at their legacy foundation in Cape Town, during their tour of Africa.
Another showed the Queen alongside the Duchess of Sussex during a ceremony to open the new Mersey Gateway Bridge in the town of Widnes in Halton, Cheshire, in 2018.
A third showed Meghan beaming as she sat next to her husband Harry for the Endeavour Fund Awards – their first public appearance as a duo since announcing plans to step back from senior royal duties in 2020.
The Royal Family Twitter account wrote: "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday today!"
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall shared a photo of Meghan at a roundtable discussion on gender equality with The Queens Commonwealth Trust (QCT) and One Young World at Windsor Castle in 2019.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall wrote in a tweet: "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday."
The Cambridges shared a photo of Meghan on Bondi beach in Sydney, Australia, from the Sussex's first official royal tour.
In a tweet, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote: "Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!"
