Picture showing how one man leaves his hotel rooms sparks furious debate

A Scottish content creator has divided opinion after sharing the condition in which he leaves a hotel room after staying in it.

Darren Dowling, better known as Dazza, revealed on his Facebook page that he strips the sheet, duvet cover, and pillowcases from the bed and places them neatly on the mattress.

He does this to save the housekeeping team time before checking out of the hotel, the Daily Record reported.

Posting the pic of the stripped bed, Dazza, who is best known for his Does it Fry show, wrote: "I always try and leave a hotel room like this. Is this the right or wrong thing to do?"

Though many queried why he would bother as the house cleaning team are paid to do this, many more praised him for his efforts.

One follower described Dazza as a "life skills influencer", writing: "I've always been one to stack plates for the waiter/waitress and to return glasses to a bar. But I've never considered doing this in hotels. You bet I'm going to start though!"

While others who had formerly worked in hotels added that it really helps when guests do this, saluting Darren for doing it they wrote that with time targets to hit per room, doing this can really give them a head start.

One housekeeper posted: "This makes me very happy when customers do this, saves us an extra job, and makes it easier."

Though another housekeeper joked: "I get worried when I see this – what are they hiding?"

Another wrote: "As a former housekeeper I always appreciated when people did this. I continue to do this now and I also leave a tip every day.

"Housekeeping is a thankless hard job. The condition some rooms are left in is astonishing…even after just one night.

"They don't get paid near enough… people are very rude to them and even other areas of the Hotel look down on them. It's the most important job in the Hotel because if it weren't for housekeeping there would be no rooms to rent out and therefore no money coming in."

However, it wasn't all positive, one man replied that he got fined in Spain for doing it, he wrote: "They claimed the room was 'messy' as I stripped the beds and put any rubbish in a bin bag and put them nicely in the corner of the room. Had to pay €60."

Another quipped: "You’re just demonstrating that you are a big boy now and you didn’t wet the bed!!"
