The 18-wheeler was reported as stolen to Houston police officers late on Monday night by a trucking company who noticed one of their vehicles was missing.
A couple hours later, the officers managed to track the stolen vehicle and found the suspect still inside when they arrived at the scene.
The suspect continued to drive while officers attempted to pull him over.
He then leapt out of the vehicle between the intersection of Lincoln Drive and McKinley Street and into a ditch where he was then caught by the officers.
The massive vehicle, however, was still moving after he had jumped out and it crashed moments later.
Conyers’ brother Chris and another family member were inside the home at the time of the crash, but were found uninjured
The footage of the scene captured the big rig crashing through the gate and hitting the truck in the driveway of the mobile home.
The truck then crashed into the mobile home and continued moving as it left behind a fiery disaster.
A total of four people were said to be in the residence at the time, but only Conyers and Heaney had been affected. They both were found trapped underneath the vehicle.
Conyers’ brother Chris and another unnamed family member were also in the home at the time of the crash but did not suffer from any injuries.
‘This is kind of a surreal situation, this is not supposed to happen,’ Chris Conyers told KHOU11.
‘He has no house, no money, no insurance, what are you going to do, think about that your house is gone.’ Chris said a GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for his brother’s hospital treatment and a new home.
The suspect was said to have had a long criminal history and had been on parole during the time of the crash for evading in a motor vehicle.
A motion was filed by the DA’s office for no bond in the suspect’s case.
‘When you talk about getting behind the wheel, for someone who has already been convicted of running from the police, and then deciding to do it in an 18-wheeler, and literally leave that vehicle, and direct it as a missile into that house, this is one of those that it going to stay with you awhile,’ Harris County DA Sean Teare said.
‘This as brazen and callous as any of these crashes that we deal with.’
