Royal fans were left fuming over the revelations of Prince Andrew's friendship with convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell.
The 60-year-old was found guilty of sex trafficking on five of six charges she was facing on December 29 relating to underage females as young as 14 years old.
Maxwell's brother, Ian, spoke on the new ITV documentary Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile, and mentioned his disgraced sister's relationship with the Duke of York.
He said: "They were good friends. I don't know how often they may have got to see him in Buckingham Palace. I met him a few times in London.
"She didn't take any s*** from anyone, friends… it makes no difference. That's the way we were brought up. I found that Prince Andrew would have found that rather refreshing."
The documentary also mentioned the photo showing Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein were pictured relaxing in the Queen's log cabin at Balmoral in the same spot where the Queen has been photographed many times before.
Euan Rellie, an investment banker in New York, added that Maxwell mentioned Prince Andrew as "my friend".
"Ghislaine invited me for dinner saying 'I'm throwing a dinner party at Jeffrey's house for my friend Prince Andrew'," he said.
"That was the way she described it and she described Andrew as being her friend, not Jeffrey's.
"I got the sense that Prince Andrew and Ghislaine had probably been boyfriend and girlfriend in the past. They had an easy warmth around each other."
Viewers blasted on Twitter to express their anger as they watched the documentary.
"They all thought they were untouchable. They also thought we were stupid. I mean, that Newsnight interview was atrocious," one Twitter user commented.
A second penned: "I forgot Prince Andrew said he’s just too honourable. It’s awful but I find it so funny that he’s literally so stupid.
"Not only did he agree to such an interview but he gave the most ridiculous answers, not even a comedian could think up."
And a third joked: "Hold on! But he said he didn't sweat! I really believed him, he was so convincing."
Prince Andrew is facing a civil trial in the US over the claims of Virginia Giuffre. He has vehemently and repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and says he has no recollection of meeting the woman who alleges to have been Epstein's sex trafficking victim.
